About MVMNTS
Based in Halifax, NS, Movements are a 5 piece band with a unique sound, embracing the heavy old school sound of desert rock bands like Kyuss and the modern, dark intensity of ISIS. With the addition of violin, synthesizers, samples, and the vocal talents of all 5 members, MVMNTS bring a new twist to the heavy music genres currently enjoying a resurgence in Canada and around the world.
Founding members Dan Nightingale and Brendan Rutherford started as a two piece bass/baritone guitar and drum band in 2010, writing songs that would become the foundation of their early sound. The lineup grew with the addition of full time bassist Keegan Lam and violinist James Southcott, and the band continued to refine their sound playing shows around Halifax and the Maritimes. With the addition of guitarist Ashley Pringle, the band worked through the winter to produce their first full length album, Through The Air, Across the Ocean. With one record under the belt and a solidified lineup, the band continues to explore new musical ground and look forward to spreading their sound through out the Maritimes, Canada, and beyond.
