EVOLVE FESTIVAL Photos & Vids of 2013 Fest! Announce 50+ Performers of the 2014 Lineup & Ticket Info!
It's that time of the year again, where summer festival goers start their annual countdown to one of the Maritimes top events: EVOLVE FESTIVAL.
Last years fest, boasted to be one of their best years to date, and did not disappoint!
Both the2013 line-up and the vibe were perfectly balanced, with copious amounts of cheers (and Wooooo's) spread clearly across the 225 acre festival grounds. Fire spinning, tight rope walking, pole dancing, paper dragons, tons of bands and electronic performers spanned 5 eclectic stages.
Memorable performances by LongWalkShortDock, Classified, We're Doomed, A Tribe Called Red, Tommy Knuckles, and festival
veterans, Slowcoaster, made for a completely blissful assault on the senses!
With the addition, of a newly constructed late night stage, Home Bass, those festival goers who wished to try to get some shut eye, had no problems. Perfectly located, a mild trek via a newly cut pathway, behind the hill camping area, Home Bass kept the Evolve party going well into the morning - allowing the music to keep on pumping, for the entire duration of the 3 day festival.
I think the most memorable (non music related) thing, about Evolve 2013, was probably the involvement of the security team.
Security at Evolve has always been a heated debate. In the past, some festival goers have found the security force to be overly rude, dissonant, intolerant and even cruel. Bored and over tired guards sporting stern faces were a regular sight. Yes, there were always a few diamonds in the rough, which made things just a little bit better, but the over all vibe of security has always been somewhat of well - a downer. This year, the tables were drastically turned! Not only were the guards helpful, mindful and well - happy, but they were the most energetic crew Evolve has ever seen! You could tell that these guys meant business! They were there to keep everyone in check, everyone safe AND make sure everyone was partying as hard as they could! Their amazing outlook on the festival (and life) kept every situation under control and everyone's minds at ease.
I really hope to see the same faces, looking out for everyone again this year!
On March 3rd 2014, Evolve launched their new website and released the names of over 50 artists performing on this years lineup, including Dub FX, Grandtheft, The Funk Hunters, Royal Canoe, and the celebrated return of Fred Penner & That 1 Guy. Also returning to Evolve, is the epic Jimmy Swift Band. The Jimmie Swift Band were a staple of the Evolve experience for years, and now, 3 years after their demise, they are back to play "The Rebirth Of Hooch" in its entirety!
Evolve have also announced that the Trailer Park Boys will be partying with them this year!
So, expect to see Randy & Mr. Lahey about the festival grounds, along with Lucy & Sarah!
