City and Colour – acclaimed singer, songwriter and performer Dallas Green – has announced a cross-Canada tour for 2014. The tour, in support of Green’s latest album The Hurry and The Harm, stops at the Metro Centre in Halifax on Saturday, May 3 and Mile One Centre in St. John's on Monday, May 5. This is the first major national tour since 2012, which sold-out across the country in record time, as well as the largest venues Green has headlined on a national tour. Special guest is Half Moon Run.
Recorded at Nashville, Tennessee’s Blackbird Studios with producer Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Death Cab for Cutie and The Mars Votla), The Hurry and The Harm debuted at #1 on the Top 200 SoundScan Chart in Canada, outselling previous LP Little Hell, which also debuted at #1. The album made serious waves internationally as well, debuting at a career high #16 in the U.S., #4 in Australia, #32 in the UK, and #83 in Germany. Lead single “Thirst” also shot to #1 on the BDS Modern Rock and Mediabase Alternative charts – a first for Green. Current single “The Lonely Life” is Top 10 at Alternative Radio in Canada.
Fresh from headlining festivals across Canada this past summer, City and Colour embarked on an extensive eight-week U.S. tour which just wrapped up in Detroit. Green heads Down Under to Sydney on November 24 for 13 dates in Australia and New Zealand, followed by a 26 date run in Europe (including Denmark, Norway and Sweden) which kicks off in the UK on January 21, 2014. The shows feature Green’s new touring band including Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs, Dead Weather) on bass, Dante Schwebel (Hacienda, Dan Auerbach) on guitar, Doug MacGregor (Constantines) on drums and Matt Kelly on pedal steel guitar and keys.
Joining City and Colour on 12 of the dates is Half Moon Run. Half Moon Run is a talented young band from Ottawa, ON and Comox, BC who bonded in Montreal creating a unique sound fusing elements of indie, pop, folk and electronica. Their complex arrangements are particularly striking to hear and see during their live shows. Half Moon Run's debut album Dark Eyes has enjoyed worldwide praise since its international release earlier this year.
