One of America’s pre-eminent singer-songwriters, Rosanne Cash returns to the Maritimes this summer for three shows and has added special guest Thom Swift.  Dates include:

July 4              Halifax                      Rebecca Cohn Auditorium
July 5              Moncton                     The Capitol Theatre
July 6              Fredericton                 The Playhouse

A multi award-winning singer-songwriter, Swift performs a distinctive blend of roots-folk-blues. Swift is well known for his “sophisticated guitar-playing”, “earthy baritone voice” and “textured and truthful” lyrics.

Swift released his third solo recording, The Fortunate Few, earlier this year which he self-produced. The album features acclaimed musicians, Geoff Arsenault, Brian Bourne, Kevin Breit, Scott Marshall, Mike Stevens, and Bill Stevenson and offers ten tracks, including a co-write with renowned Nova Scotia songwriter, Dave Gunning.

“He’s sure to win more trophies with this superb outing…he mixes folk and blues elements seamlessly here.” – New Music Canada

” The Fortunate Few is a polished, thoughtful album…each song is an earnest, heartfelt look at the human condition.” – Halifax Magazine

“With fresh, rootsy riffs and mature, honest stories of life, love, and family, Thom Swift is an artist who can do so many things with a guitar, but considerate listeners will hear elements of swampy blues, heartland folk, and Springsteenian roots-rock pulsing throughout the album.” - Adam Bowie, columnist with The Daily Gleaner, juror for the Polaris Music Prize.

As a solo artist, Swift has three award-winning recordings to his credit: 2007’s Into The Dirt, 2010’s Blue Sky Day and a 2011 children’s recording titled, The Wood Buffalo Youth Song Project recorded with Keith Mullins, Steven Bowers and children from 10 schools in Northern Alberta.

Swift has played in support of John Hiatt, Dolly Parton, Bill Frisell and John Mayall and has performed at countless folk and blues festivals throughout Canada, United States and Europe. He also performed shows at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and recently represented Atlantic Canada at the 2013 International Blues Summit in Memphis, TN.  Prior to his solo career, Swift played with well-known and multi award-winning folk-jazz-blues trio, Hot Toddy for 12 years.
