NEWS: Gabrielle Papillon Announces Tour Dates Across Canada To Support New Release 'Little Bug'
Gabrielle Papillon is no stranger to the touring scene. Whether by car, bus, plane or train, she has completed four cross-Canada tours since 2010. In this time she has played approximately 300 individual shows and charmed new audiences with her soothing music and sense of humour at every stop along the way. Gabrielle "could sing about making pancakes with that hauntingly emotive voice of hers and it would still cloud your head. Take into account that her lyrics are insightful, honest, and clever, and well, you've got a sure fire hit on your hands." (Justine Thompson-Fisher, Minus the Stains). Her 2011 full-length debut made a splash on campus radio and dominated Folk/Roots/Blues charts the month of its release. The new material on Little Bug shows Gabrielle's continued growth as both a songwriter as a musician.
Little Bug, produced by Nova Scotia Music Week's producer of the year Daniel Ledwell, has an adventurous and more expansive sound than any of Gabrielle's previous recordings. The eleven tracks on the album are tied together by her gentle and quietly beautiful vocal performance, the perfect carrier for the stories that she tells about bittersweet endings and personal family histories. Together, the sentimental lyrics and melodies make for an album that manages a striking balance between soothing and haunting. Gabrielle has already been recognized by the Mountain Stage NewSong contest as one of this year's finalists for the new track "Go Into the Night" off the album. Little Bug also features a plethora of Gabrielle's past and new collaborators including Jenn Grant who provides guest vocals on the track, "Turn Left".
Gabrielle Papillon's Little Bug is released on September 25th. and is currently charting on Canadian campus stations across the country, including in Halifax, Quebec City, Edmonton, Nelson and Calgary. The supporting tour begins in September at Pop Montreal with her backing band, The Mighty Oak, and continues across Canada for the remainder of 2012.
