NEWS: HOLLY MCNARLAND RELEASES RUN BODY RUN - MAY 15TH
INDEPENDENTLY RELEASED ALBUM OUT DIGITALLY
ON MAY 15th
PERFORMANCE IN TORONTO DURING NXNE
CONTEST FOR HER FANS RUNNING IN PREVIEW OF
ALBUM’S RELEASE AND NXNE SHOW
With her signature whisper-to-a-scream voice, Holly McNarland returns with her
first independent release, Run Body
Run, to be released digitally on May 15th. A collection of
ten new songs, the album is the result of over a year’s work in and out of
the studio, and for Holly, represents a move to become closer to her fans. Check
out the driving first track Alone’s Just
Fine for a taste of what’s to come on the new album, and don’t miss Holly
in Toronto on June 16th during NXNE, to hear her new songs live
(details below).
Since
moving back to Toronto with her family, the JUNO winning singer-songwriter
and mother of two has been busy writing for other artists, and composing her
own songs.
Bridging the gap between the
country
music she grew up singing with her mom, and the rock her voice leans
towards,
Holly is ready to share some of her favourite songs that have been in
the works for the past five years. Writing whenever the mood strikes,
she is
often triggered by the things around her – people, places, film and
other
media. Title track, Run Body Run,
was inspired by her daughter, who was 3 years old when Holly wrote the song, and
the inspiration she felt hearing her child tell herself that she can do
anything.
This
is the first
time that Holly will be releasing an album independently and she feels
that
she is now free to make music when she wants, how she wants and with
whom she
wants. “When I was with a label, I felt very far from and separated
from my
fans outside of playing shows,” she says. “Now there’s no separation—I
am
working on my career without a manager, or a record label. I’m going
to my
fans directly for support via social networking and it’s been amazing.
Seeing
how much people will back something up when they truly believe in it,
and feel connected has made me want to be a part of the music world
again.”
Holly
is reaching
out to her fans by running an exciting contest in preview of the album
release and upcoming show at NXNE. Fans are asked to write in or
submit a short YouTube video to tell a story about one of Holly’s songs
that changed
their life, or day, or provided some inspiration. The grand prize
winner will
receive a NXNE package that includes transportation to and from
Toronto for
the festival, passes to NXNE, the very first signed copy of Run Body
Run, and
a meet and greet with Holly, as well as other great prizes! Details
about the
contest can be found here.
