NEWS: SONIC CONCERTS PRESENTS SAM ROBERTS BAND IN HALIFAX, MARCH 9
Multiple JUNO Award winning Sam Roberts Band is returning to Halifax in support of its latest release Collider at the Multipurpose Centre on Friday, March 9 at 8 p.m.
Collider was produced by Chicago-based Brian Deck (Iron and Wine, Modest Mouse, Gomez) and while the band is named after the singer and primary songwriter, Roberts has long relied on his inner circle – guitarist Dave Nugent, guitarist-keyboardist Eric Fares, bassist James Hall and drummer Josh Trager. The album includes the singles “I Feel You” and “Without A Map”.
Paste Magazine said, “…Roberts and company continue to expand the basic sonic range of their offerings.”
The National Post said, “There are a lot of bands who sound great on their album but can’t figure out how to translate that to a stage; they should all go to a Sam Roberts concert and take notes. Or, better yet, dance and clap and fist-pump their way through a raucous evening of music.”
Since the release of his first single,“Brother Down,” in 2002, Roberts has gone on to release four full-length albums including We Were Born in a Flame, Chemical City, Love at the End of the World and Collider earlier this year. On top of his multiple JUNO Award wins, he has taken home MuchMusic Video Awards and had numerous rock radio hits, including “Don’t Walk Away Eileen,” “Where Have All The Good People Gone,” “Hard Road,” “Bridge To Nowhere” and “Them Kids,” among others.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 day of show (including tax) PLUS service charge and go on sale this Friday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available at the Halifax Forum, at all Ticketpro outlets, by phone at 1-866-311-9090 and online at www.sonicconcerts.com.
This show is open to all ages with a licensed area for those 19+ with VALID ID. Doors open at 7 p.m.
