NEWS: Yukon Blonde & The Paint Movement Come To Halifax
March 19 –@ The Seahorse
Yukon Blonde
With yet another North American tour under their belts in late 2010, including sold out dates with fellow Polaris Music Prize nominees The Wooden Sky, one of Canada’s best live bands kick off 2011 by continuing to do what they do best. This time Yukon Blonde have headed out from their hometown of Vancouver by playing with Montreal’s Plants and Animals in western Canada and then taking on headlining duties with Nevado recording artists The Paint Movement opening for them as they cross into Ontario and head to the east coast including for the first time ever two dates in Newfoundland at The Ship in St. John's. The band has been holed up in a west coast cabin writing songs since the beginning of the year. It has gone so well that the band is demoing all the songs this month and hoping to get into the studio by May to begin work on their sophomore full length. In the meantime, fans of the band can whet their whistles by listening to the song they recorded for a split seven inch with pals The Wooden Sky that was released last fall called Waffle Iron

The Paint Movement
A year in the making, Nevado Records Artists From Toronto, The Paint Movement's upcoming full length album was finished in early 2011. Produced and mixed by David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Apostle of Hustle) the album was recorded in what is (allegedly) the oldest building left standing in the small town of Trenton, Ontario: a church, which has been converted into a full recording studio. The Paint Movement returned to live music by premiering the songs from the album live at two sold-out shows at The Dakota Tavern in Toronto in January 2011 and is now gearing up for a national tour with friends Yukon Blonde. The first two songs Fortune’s Window and Heart Lids will be released on March 1st as a digital 45 and a tour-only 7" which will initially only be available at shows. The Paint Movement’s full length album will be released by Nevado Records later this year.
