The Nova Scotia Music Week 2016 conference will see some of the top music publishers and rights management professionals in Canada attend the event to provide a full day of business training for delegates. Nova Scotia Music Week 2016 takes place in Truro, November 3-6.

According to Music Nova Scotia executive director Scott Long,
“Music publishing can be complex and confusing. In fact, it is one of the least understood aspects of the music industry but one of the most important revenue streams. Given this, it is crucial that the Music Nova Scotia membership have a full understanding of the inner workings of music publishing and rights management.”
American indie star David Lowery from the group Cracker will be on hand to deliver a keynote address on artist rights in the digital age and his world famous lawsuit against Spotify. Along with Lowery, the conference will feature Nashville based music photographer and blogger Stacie Huckeba who will deliver a keynote on the issue of sexism in the music industry.

The conference will also offer export training sessions on Poland and Eastern Europe, business development training on financial management and taxes and will include the third edition of the Women in the Music Business Town Hall.

NSMW 2016 festival headliners include Classified, Ria Mae, Joel Plaskett, Mo Kenney, Garrett Mason, Christine Campbell and Truro legends Horse. Over 100 musical acts will play in venues across Truro during the event.
