Through slow, sludgy dirges and ethereal airy ballads Vulva Culture hones in on astral, operatic, riff-laced shoegaze. Channeling the likes of Jesus and Mary Chain, No Joy, and My Bloody Valentine, the spook-tinged slowcore songs shimmer and sway, pulsing and persisting at their own creeping rhythm. Washy guitars, winding solos, and atmospheric vocals create a haunting confluence, one aptly described to the band by a fan as sounding
"like a lot of drugs on a rocking chair underwater."
The band's latest EP, In Vain, couples their signature reverb-drenched output with slowed psychedelic doo wop leanings. Like lip shaped coffee stains on a porcelain mug, the songs are imbued with a sense of permanence - a maudlin return to the familiar that crashes with emotion and burns deep with tenacity.

Finding Lynchian beauty in 6/8 time, the gothic slumber queens proffer the unheard soundtrack to Audrey Horne's slow dance, careening with open-hearted confidence while teetering on a precarious ridge.
