Outlier is the first festival of its kind on the East Coast of Canada. Showcasing "horror pop, grey magic, psycho-spiritual, doom fantasy, genre and other films outside the bubble," the organizers have drawn on selections from across our region and around the world to compile a diverse collection of works that challenge, delight, and disturb.

Features at this year's festival include: The Werner Herzog- and Errol Morris-produced documentary The Act of Killing; reality-blurring horror film Toad Road; pre-apocalyptic comedy Doomsdays; the Canadian premiere of the dark, German drama Nothing Bad Can Happen; supernatural gore-fest The Demon's Rook; documentary on groundbreaking Toronto band Fifth Coloumn, She Said Boom; dark and dreamlike animation Consuming Spirits; The Canadian premiere of 1979's The Visitor; filth-soaked Canadian film Septic Man; charming phallus-focused documentary The Final Member; and Mexican body-horror film Halley
