SONIC CONCERTS PRESENTS
SERENA RYDER IN ATLANTIC CANADA, FEB. 26-MARCH 4

JUNO Award-winning artist Serena Ryder is returning to the east coast in support of her latest release Harmony with five shows, February 26 to March 4. Dates include:

Feb. 26           St. John’s        Arts and Culture Centre
Feb. 28           Saint John      The Imperial Theatre
March 1          Moncton          The Capitol Theatre
March 2          Halifax             Rebecca Cohn Auditorium
March 4          Fredericton    The Playhouse

The recipient of the 2008 JUNO Award for Best New Artist after the release of her GOLD certified album If Your Memory Serves You Well, Ryder has already left an indelible impression on the music industry in Canada.  The follow-up is it o.k. continued her momentum with songs like “Little Bit of Red” and “All For Love.”

Her success led to cross-Canada tours and performances in Australia, Europe, at the Bonnarroo, Lollapalooza, South by Southwest and Denver’s Mile High music festivals.

Ryder has been lauded for “impressive fearlessness” (Boston Globe), “pipes, presence [and] potential” (No Depression) and “…a range and vocal maturity of someone twice her age” (American Songwriter). She accepted an invitation to tour with Steve Earle, Melissa Etheridge and performed on bills with acts as diverse as Aerosmith, Marc Broussard, Cheap Trick and Xavier Rudd.

Released in late 2012, Ryder’s newest album Harmony and its explosive first single “Stompa” primarily took form at her own home studio The Cottage.  She worked with Emmy and Grammy Award-winning producer Jerrod Bettis (Gavin Degraw, Better Than Ezra) and producer/songwriter/musician Jon Levine (K’Naan, Nelly Furtado) who, along with Ryder, play most of the instruments on the album.  “Stompa” has already gone GOLD and is receiving play at Hot AC, Top 40 and Alt-Rock radio across Canada since its premiere on CBC Radio’s “Q”.

“…when she stretches out, as she does on the soulful ballad "Please Baby Please," the subtly electro-wise jazzy torcher "For You" (which is reminiscent of the Screamin' Jay Hawkins classic "I Put a Spell on You") and the almost Broadway-ready and infectious "Stompa," you can hear a real career beckoning.” (The Vancouver Sun)
