The Montreal Hindie-Rockers recently signed to Hidden Pony Records to
release their self-titled second full length album. As they prepare for
the upcoming February 5th, digital and subsequent vinyl release via The Reverberation Appreciation Society and cassette via Burger Records on February 12th, they are now getting ready to hit road with Black Angels as well. Formed in Montreal in 2009 by sitarist/bassist Rishi Dhir, Elephant Stone hit the ground running with the Polaris Music Prize-nominated debut, “The Seven Seas”. Following that up with ”The Glass Box” EP, a supporting slot on the Brian Jonestown Massacre’s North American tour, multiple European/UK tours with sold-out dates in London and Berlin, and festival appearances at the Iceland Airwaves, Osheaga, and SXSW, Elephant Stone is now preparing for the release of ten brand new songs.
Elephant Stone’s self-titled second album defines the unique sound the band has been building over the last three years and two releases. Like many great albums before, Elephant Stone defies categorization. Instead, each song is a musical journey that ebbs and flows from BJM-style rollers, to Caribou dance floor rumblers, to REM-style janglers, to Hindustani raga spiritualizers and back again.
The next year will see the band tour the world spreading their psychedelified-hindie-rock mantra. Watch for them in your town soon, listen to them now.
