NEWS: Ben Caplan Announces February Tour Dates in Canada - Exclaim! Premieres Holiday Collaboration With Norway Pop Group Katzenjammer

Halifax's Ben Caplan is pleased to announce a string of Canadian tour dates in February 2012. Today fans can also hear the release of an exciting musical holiday collaboration with Norwegian folk-pop stars Katzenjammer via Exclaim.ca. This past year saw the Halifax troubadour release a music video, pick up numerous awards, and tour relentlessly around the world; There is no indication that 2013 will be any slower. Come February, Ben will tour the eastern half of Canada with stops in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Ontario.

As 2013 continues, Australia will be getting their first taste of Ben Caplan. Ben will be taking on a brief tour down under including three days at the Byron Bay Blues Festival sharing the stage with artists including Santana, Wilco, and Ben Harper.

In the meantime, Ben Caplan has released a charming rendition of The Pogues’ holiday classic “Fairytale of New York”. Ben was invited to guest on the track during his most recent European tour. The track was recorded in Oslo with Nordic folk-pop stars Katzenjammer with accompaniment by the Trondheim Soloists string ensemble. The track is being exclusively streamed on Exclaim.ca this week.

Earlier this fall Ben Caplan was honoured with a whopping seven nominations for the annual Nova Scotia Music Awards which brought him home to Canada in November to perform at the gala. Nominations included Recording of the Year (for his debut release In The Time of Great Remembering), New Artist of the Year, and SOCAN Songwriter of the Year. Caplan was awarded the coveted Entertainer of The Year award – the unique fan-voted prize of the evening.

Following his big win and performance at the awards gala, Ben Caplan joined fellow Nova Scotia artists Carmen Townsend and Carleton Stone in a special performance with Symphony Nova Scotia. The Chronicle Herald described his performance by saying, “it is pretty obvious that he is a gifted player as well as a singer.”
