NEWS: NSMW 2012 Festival and Conference Schedule Announced

Rich Aucoin, Old Man Luedecke, The Modern Grass, Molly Thomason & Carleton Stone added to Gala Lineup

Music Nova Scotia will present over 100 musical acts on seven stages across Liverpool from Thursday, November 8 to Sunday, November 11. This will mark Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week 2012 in Liverpool as the largest and most diverse lineup this annual festival and conference has ever seen.

In addition to the showcase schedule, Music Nova Scotia has released the details for this year’s conference, #MOM Conference 2012 - Mind Over Music. Informative panels, innovative networking opportunities and the largest music buyers program to ever hit the Maritimes ensures the 2012 conference will provide valuable information on a range of current trends and issues facing today’s local, national and international music markets.

Notable highlights from this year’s #MOM Conference include Canadian music industry icon Bernie Finkelstein discussing his recently released memoirs True North: A Life in the Music Business, music Canada President Graham Henderson refuting last year’s keynote by Michael Geist, Export Training for export ready and exporting artists and industry professionals, a screening of Shelley Thompson and Peter Murphy’s soon to be released documentary on house concerts titled A Maritime Home Invasion, grant writing peer review by top-funded artists and a songwriters workshop led by Jason Collett with mentors John Mullane and Steven MacDougall.

Submissions for this year’s 5 minute pitch sessions, export training  and speed meetings are now being accepted. The deadline for all the events requiring pre-registration is Monday, October 15th at 5pm. Plese note the entire Export Training track requires pre-registration, which can be done by visiting www.nsmw.ca/conference.

In addition to releasing the festival and conference schedule, Music Nova Scotia has added Rich Aucoin, Old Man Luedecke, The Modern Grass, Molly Thomason and Carleton Stone to the NSLC Gala Awards show to join The Barra MacNeils, Sprag Session, Ben Caplan & The Casual Smokers, J-Bru & Chad Hatcher, SoHo Ghetto, Mark Cameron, and Dwayne Côté and Duane Andrews for the first music event ever held at the Queens Place Emera Centre.
