NEWS: Torkelsen's "Simple" Video Premieres on The FADER

Torkelsen is a young and promising producer and beat wiz from a small place called Torsnes in the outskirts of a small town called Fredrikstad a couple of hours south of Oslo in Norway.

In the basement of his parents' house, this classically trained pianist has been perfecting his approach to hip-hop (producing local underground acts) and electro and house (as part of the now defunct, though at the time rising and promising act Munn til Munn Metoden). Through his solo work, he's chasing up all of his muses, crafting a tasty and eclectic mix of all of his influences.

What you get is a 10 track album where you can hear traces of everything from Röyksopp, Jaga Jazzist, RJD2 and J.Dilla to AIR, Casiokids, Slug, Ratatat and Toro Y Moi. All over the place? Yes. Good? Really good. In 2011, he released the two track EP/single Outside/Inside, the 10-track beat tape Torsnes Beats Vol.1 and a split 7" with American producer Hard Mix. In addition to that, he kept himself busy doing remixes of Casiokids, NIVA, Proviant Audio, Harrys Gym, Hiawata!, Kenneth Ishak & The Freedom Machines and Parker Lewis – and within the first two months of 2012, he's done remixes of Simian Ghost, Maribel and We Are Standard! Productive guy. The last 10 months has also been a lot about him stepping up his live shows playing around Norway, and also doing shows in London and Stockholm. Sharing bills with acts like Onra, Offshore, Beatbully, Bloodgroup and more.
