There's no reason to wonder why; Gatin grew up in the snows of Whitewood, Saskatchewan, learning piano at the age of four and singing before she could speak. Her creative choices to tour by train, write music in a cabin in the woods, and her other life as a visual artist, come through in her dreamy, rich style. With handclaps, foot-stomps and tambourine her music will make you travel with its picturesque instrumentals of the open road right by her side.
"We’ve done everything as musicians traveling across Canada. I have stayed with old anarchist hippies billeting us in the forest with no electricity, slept in the van on the side of a mountain, filmed indie music videos in the streets of Toronto in the pouring rain, and a music video in a hail storm in the Exchange district of Winnipeg. Anything can happen and it usually does."
With the release of her first full-length album Broken Tambourine, Gatin reached Earshot's Top 20 Canadian folk/roots chart. And has since played hundreds of shows in support of the record in places as diverse as living rooms and aboard a traveling train, serenading the passengers. She has earned notable attention from CBC Radio all across Canada, drawing comparisons of artists such as Joni Mitchell, KD Lang, and other greats.
“Ingrid Gatin’s got a piano, an accordion, and a tear-jerkingly beautiful voice.” – Stylus magazine.
"Recalls the early days of Cat Power, with deep-cutting lyrics and stirring vocals to match." - The Uniter
“If 2011 is the year the UK’s Adele took the world by storm, then perhaps Canada has found their version of the soulful songstress, with just enough of a twist so she stands out on her own.” – Critiqulous
Ingrid has released the single “Slow Dancing” exclusively to Exclaim! Online for download, building excitement for her soon to be album. She will be spending the cold winter months of Manitoba recording her second full-length album with Montréal’s talented engineer/producer Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, The Dears, Basia Bulat).

Can't wait, CAN'T WAIT for the new album. I bought 'Tambourine' from you on the sidewalk at Portage Place two years ago and give or take Mavis' "You're Not Alone" haven't heard a better one yet. The sky's the limit!
