NEWS: The Balconies Gear Up for a Busy Summer Joining The Trews for Tour Dates and Announce Appearances at Summerfest, Edgefest, and Ottawa Bluesfest
The Balconies
are ready to pack their bags and hit the road this summer with a series
of dates announced with The Trews and U.S.S., along with performances
at high-profile festivals such as Summerfest, Edgefest, and Ottawa
Bluesfest. The Toronto-by-way-of-Ottawa trio has been quick to add dates
from St. Catharines all the way to Montreal to their tour schedule for
May. June includes a few performances south of the border, including
dates in Chicago, New York City, and a set at this year's Summerfest in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
So far this year has been non-stop for The Balconies. The highly anticipated release of their Kill Count
EP (Coalition/Warner) in late-February lead to an east coast Canadian
tour and performances at South By Southwest in Austin, followed by the
Canadian Music Week circuit to round out the month of March. On top of
all that the group released their music video for their single 'Kill
Count' in February which has been spinning on MuchLoud, while the single
went on to be named one of SiriusXM's 'Best Songs of 2011'.
It's no surprise that fans in their hometown of Ottawa voted The Balconies
as 'Best Pop/Rock/Dance Group' on the Ottawa Xpress 'Best of 2011'
list. Their mesmerizing and energetic live shows consistently leave fans
smitten and have been known to convert nonbelievers nightly. Veterans
to the festival touring scene, The Balconies have
appeared at Pop Montreal and NXNE to name a few, and opened for the
likes of Juliette Lewis, Land of Talk, Cold War Kids, Sloan, and more.
Always gaining momentum, it's looking like 2012 is the year The Balconies make their mark on the Canadian music scene.
