NEWS:Vancouver's Five Alarm Funk Release New Album 'Rock the Sky' May 11 and Announce Supporting Tour Dates

Vancouver-based Five Alarm Funk are pleased to announce that their fourth studio album, Rock The Sky, will be released May 11, 2012. The ten-piece ensemble will be taking their new tracks, and of course old favourites, on the road with a cross-Canada tour which promises their always energetic, eclectic, and jaw dropping live sets. What more can be expected from a stage packed with ten seasoned musicians blending their sounds together into an orchestral funk rock?

With a Pegasus emblazoned on the cover, Rock The Sky boasts the most rock influence of Five Alarm Funk to date, with the entire album fueled by percussion and held together by relentless horn assault. The band cites influences from Iron Maiden to Parliament being fused together in their music lab to create the new tunes this time around, and as always their recorded products deliver on the energy front. Rock The Sky has big shoes to fill this year with Five Alarm Funk's last release, Anything is Possible, being dubbed 'Instrumental Recording of the Year' at the 2011 Western Canadian Music Awards, and earning a 4.5 out of 5 star rating from, calling it a, 'potent mind altering substance.'

With an extreme passion for the art, it's no surprise that Five Alarm Funk have been going strong for six years, four albums, and over 400 live gigs boasted on their musical resume. Festival dates have included Toronto Jazz Festival, Ottawa Blues Fest, and Summer Meltdown in Washington state, not to mention countless sold-out shows at the Commodore Ballroom in their home city of Vancouver and many treks across Canada and south of the border to the United States.
