After
six years of constant touring with Holy
Fuck, Brian Borcherdt emerged
from the tangled cables and broken drum machines with a slew of new songs.
Looking to explore a different sound, Borcherdt teamed with producer Leon Taheny (Final Fantasy, Rituals, Bruce Peninsula) and together the pair recorded
in a converted garage under the name Dusted.
Labels, Polyvinyl (US) and Hand Drawn Dracula (Canada) proudly announce the release of Dusted’s debut full-length, Total
Dust, on July 10th 2012
The
resulting album, Total Dust, resides in an atmosphere that is sometimes melodic,
sometimes haunting, and always clouded by a fuzzy glow. With string
arrangements and half-hidden guitar feedback held together by the occasional
tambourine and minimal drum machine, the stripped down mood perfectly
complements a collection of songs that are more than capable of standing ontheir own merits.

Exclaim
and Spin
announced the release of Total Dust April 24th and each offer
a stream of the track on their respective sites. Spin noted;“(Into the) Atmosphere, is a dewy lo-fi
pop ramble, with sweetly multi-tracked vocals, cavernous layers of melancholy
guitar strums, and galloping, off-kilter percussion.” Exclaim is linking direct to the full LP, Total Dust preorder
(which includes a limited edition run of 300 copies of 180 gram maroon-coloured
vinyl and deluxe CD packaging with an exclusive CD bonus track), here
Live, Dusted challenges the sonic limitations
of a two-piece. Vocals and guitar are expelled through small overblown
amplifiers and bolstered by a raucous backbone of live drums, 808 samples, and
bass synth. Since their stage debut this spring, the band has performed with
labelmates Deerhoof and of Montreal, while back home in Toronto the duo has been playing
parties with fellow friends Army Girls,
Odonis Odonis, and Little Girls.

Dusted have confirmed a couple of
Toronto dates including a NXNE show. In addition, they have planned a handful
of shows to coincide with the release of Total
Dust that will be announced soon. Look for more extensive touring this fall.
