NEWS: The Tom Fun Orchestra and The Town Heroes at The Seahorse!!

On a cold winter day in December 2011, in the ever friendly, drink lovin’ city of Sydney, Cape Breton, The Tom Fun Orchestra and The Town Heroes played so hard together that there sweet, rockin’ tunes brought all the locals out...too many, in fact. The place was so jammin’ hot that the Fire Marshall had to shut ‘er down! Now if that isn’t some East Coast rock ‘n’ roll...

“Ambitious, energetic, in your face, indie-rock with a large swig of moonshine induced folk styling, The Tom Fun Orchestra are more infectious than Swine Flu. The difference is this is something you don’t want to stop from spreading...You Will Land With a Thud is a definite unsung hero of an album. The Tom Fun Orchestra has put together a great collection of music that will have you hooked in seconds.” --Music Feed

“A nine-piece extravaganza makes music [with a] raucous, sweeping sound...A trio of guitars, violin, upright bass, accordion, banjo, drums, mandolin, clarinet, trumpet, and shaky bass...The various players give each other enough space to create the energetic, chaotic-yet-melodic sound found throughout the album.” --Herohill

Even at a live show, it’s easy to forget that the catchy, hard hitting, anthemic songs are being performed by a duo. On stage they move like intense caricatures – soaked in sweat, pushing every chord, note and beat to the limit. A structured wall of sound emerges; familiar yet distinctive. A cascade of passion, urgency and belief in their songs - you can feel it!

All this talent and energy hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2011 alone, these two Cape Bretoners not only played a showcase in Germany, but they were voted as the Best New Artist in The Coast’s Best of Music, performed at the coveted “Enter The Tiki” stage for Canadian Music Week in Toronto, were selected as the Nova Scotia Regional winners for the National Radio Star Song Writing competition, and showcased on the Rising Star Stage at the East Coast Music Awards in Charlottetown. Did we mention that they also played The Halifax Pop Explosion, Evolve, Estuary Fest and a ton of shows and festivals all over?

Watch out, this duo might soon be too big for you!
