NEWS: SONIC CONCERTS PRESENTS MEAGHAN SMITH’S HOLIDAY SHOW IN HALIFAX, DEC. 16

Celebrating the release of her holiday album It Snowed, Halifax’s JUNO Award winning singer-songwriter Meaghan Smith will perform at St. Matthew’s Church on Friday, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m.

Released on November 1, It Snowed includes a duet with fellow Haligonian Buck 65 of the holiday classic “Baby It’s Cold Outside, which cheekily reverses the traditional roles of the singers in the song.  The album is an eclectic holiday collection of songs, some original and some standard favourites. The title track carries on with Smith’s unique modern/vintage vibe featuring antiqued sounding samples under her pop melody and a simply haunting vocal rendition of the closing track “Silent Night” ensures that It Snowed is sure to be a crowd pleaser for seasons to come.

It Snowed is Smith’s first projects since The Cricket’s Orchestra, which propelled her to winning the 2011 JUNO Award for Best New Artist.  Smith has been lauded by the press as a “huge new talent” (The Globe and Mail), and described as having “the potential to emerge as a female counterpart to superstar crooner Michael Bublé” (Ottawa Citizen).   The Cricket’s Orchestra was described as being “wry and retro” (New York Times) and “as if Bjork recorded an album with k.d. lang and Doris Day” (National Post).

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of show (including tax) PLUS service charge and go on sale this Friday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m., exclusively online at www.sonicconcerts.com.
This show is open to all ages.  Doors open at 7 p.m.
