NEWS: CBC Radio 3 Announces Bucky Award Nominees!

Music fans decide who wins the 6th annual awards, honouring top Canadian acts

What is the Best Song of the Year? Which band is The Best Live Act in the country? What’s the Most Canadian Song? And who is the Sexiest Artist in Canada?

Those questions and many more will begin to be answered when CBC Radio 3 releases its list of nominees for the 6th annual CBC Radio 3 Bucky Awards this Monday, November 14 on web radio (www.cbcradio3.com) and on Sirius Satellite Radio channel 152.

CBC Radio 3 listeners nominated the artists during a week of online nominations. Seven artists are nominated in each category, and online voting will be open to the public for two weeks. Early voting is encouraged as the two artists with the fewest votes in each category will be eliminated this Friday, November 18th.

This is the 6th year of the Bucky Awards, which honour the best in Canadian pop, rock, country, punk, hip-hop, electronic music and more. CBC Radio 3 host Grant Lawrence will host the awards gala and speak with the winners on his show between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. PST (2-5 p.m. EST) on Wednesday, December 7th.

Once the nominees are announced, voting on cbcradio3.com begins, and will continue until November 27th at midnight PST.

Winners will be announced in special live broadcast on Wednesday, December 7th.
