It’s been less than a year, and Minus World has gone from a curious bedroom project to a high-energy 2-piece, releasing their self-titled EP in May of 2011. It’s not just the kinetic live show that has caught people’s attention; Justin Wiles and Kat Williams have crafted a short but impactful album that demands listeners’ attention.
The sound of Minus World started as a simple concept: What would a singer-songwriter sound like if he carried around a synth instead of a guitar? With this, singer/keyboardist Justin created a backing track of 8-bit glory, an orchestra of square and saw wavs, 808s and retro bells. Where most electronic artists rely on loops and dance beats, Minus World sets itself apart with emotive lyrics and intricate, winding song structures.
