NEWS: SONIC CONCERTS presents MATT ANDERSEN in Halifax, Nov. 18

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Matt Andersen will perform in support of his upcoming release, Coal Mining Blues, due out Sept. 20, in Halifax at the Spatz Theatre in Citadel High School (1855 Trollope St.) on Friday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m.

Recorded earlier this year at Levon Helm's studio in Woodstock, New York, Coal Mining Blues was produced by Nashville-based guitarist Colin Linden and features Amy Helm and Garth Hudson. The album is Andersen’s follow up to his previous releases Second Time Around, Something In-Between, Piggyback with harmonica virtuoso Mike Stevens and Live From the Phoenix Theatre.

Hailing from New Brunswick, Andersen’s known for his larger than life showmanship that has earned him fervent and steadfast fan base. His sprawling blues, roots and rock musical hybrid has gained him multiple East Coast Music Awards, Maple Blues Awards and the 26th International Blues Challenge in the solo/duo division.

With over 200 live shows a year as a headliner at major festivals, clubs and theatres throughout North America and the UK, Andersen has shared the stage and toured with Mississippi Delt Blues icon "Honeyboy" Edwards, America, Randy Bachman, the late Bo Diddley, Little Feat, Bela Fleck, Dereck Trucks, Susan Tedeshci and a host of others.

Andersen’s Halifax appearance is part of a national tour celebrating the release of Coal Mining Blues, continuing what has been his busiest year yet.
