NEWS: Halifax Pop Explosion hosts showcase at South By Southwest

...featuring performances from Rich Aucoin, In-Flight Safety, The Golden Dogs, Duzheknew, Cousins, & Carmen Townsend


Halifax Pop Explosion (HPX) hosts a showcase at the 2011 South by Southwest Music and Media Conference (SXSW) on March 19 at Paradise Cafe (401 East 6th Street). Starting at 8pm, the evening features performances from Rich Aucoin, In-Flight Safety, The Golden Dogs, Duzheknew, Cousins, & Carmen Townsend. The festival is also hosting a a send-off show at the Seahorse Tavern on February 23 for SXSW showcasing HPX alums Dog Day, Duzheknew, Cousins, and Special Noise.

HPX was founded in 1993. Since then, it has become one the country's premiere showcases for emerging music, art and culture from Halifax, Canada and around the world. Featuring artists such as The Hold Steady, The New Pornographers, Ty Segall, and Sloan, last year's line-up drew record setting attendance all while being covered by media from all over the world.

SXSW 2011, in its twenty-fifth year, will take place March 16 -20, 2011. The SXSW Film Conference and SXSW Interactive Festival, both in their eighteenth year, will take place March 11 - 15, 2011 with the Film Festival running from March 11 - 19, 2011.
