NEWS: SONIC CONCERTS PRESENTS DAVE GUNNING LIVE AT ST. MATTHEW’S UNITED CHURCH, NOV. 23


With the release of his tenth album No More Pennies, now available in-stores and online, critically-acclaimed Nova Scotia singer-songwriter Dave Gunning will perform at St. Matthew’s United Church in Halifax on Friday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m.

A tribute to the passing of the iconic Canadian penny, No More Pennies, features 12 tracks, produced by Jamie Robinson, celebrating the journey, the trials and tribulations, the highs and lows and the goodness in the hearts of people.  The album includes co-writes with George Canyon, David Francey, Bruce Guthro, Lennie Gallant, Jamie Robinson, Jim Dorie and Scottish songstress, Karine Polwart. The album's signature track, "These Hands" was co-written with George Canyon and will also be released as a video.

Gunning’s previous release ... a tribute to John Allan Cameron was honored with a 2012 Juno Award nomination and won two 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards and two ECMA Awards. He was the winner of the Indie International Song Contest (for his song, “Hard Workin’ Hands”, co-written with Ron Hynes) and a finalist in the Great American Song Contest, the USA Songwriting Competition, the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the International Songwriting Contest.

Prior to returning to Halifax, Gunning will tour the Maritimes (Sept. 22 to Oct. 10), followed by Ontario performances (Oct. 18-28) and shows in Western Canada (Nov. 8-17) finishing the year with several dates in the East Coast (Nov. 22- Dec. 22).
