NEWS: Try to sleep tonight as HPX 2011 kicks off with a bang tomorrow!
Dear friends, fans and bands,
We've been working on this for 360 days now and I can't believe its finally upon us. Its been hard to sleep the last few nights and the excitement in our office has reached a fevered pitch. This is a friendly email to remind you of a few things and the first of a daily newsletter keeping you informed on what is happening at your festival.
Do you like cake? Who doesn't like cake? Did we mention it was FREE cake? Come out to our opening reception at the Citadel Halifax Hotel at 6pm and have some birthday cake with us. Music from DJ James Reid and high fives from all the festival staff and board. All are welcome so please come to kick off the festival with us.

Tickets and Passes - VIP Passes have SOLD OUT and there are less than a dozen Priority Passes left so if you were waiting to pick one up I wouldn't wait any longer as they will be gone by the end of the week. Some of the individual shows have sold out of advanced tickets but that doesn't mean you won't be able to get in. We only release a small number of advanced tickets (less than 1/5 of venue capacity) leaving LOADS of room for folks who wish to pay cash or show up with your wristband/pass.
Wristbands - We still have wristbands left for you to score a killer deal. They're only $50 plus tax and ticket fee which gets you into all HPX venues subject to capacity. Something to keep in mind is that we've increased capacity this year by adding some big venues: Olympic Hall, The New Palace and Reflections Cabaret to name a few not to mention North Street Church, Bus Stop Theatre and the rest of the well loved HPX venues. Grab a wristband today for the full music experience and see the whole festival.
Picking up your pass/wristband - You've got your pass purchased now where to pick it up? Come to the festival HQ at the Citadel Halifax Hotel to pick up your pass/wristband from Oct 18-22 11am - 8pm. The Citadel Halifax Hotel is located at 1960 Brunswick Street and is our official host hotel.
Capacity and getting into the venues - People have been asking about getting into the venues and all we say is that if you get to the show for the opening acts you'll usually have no problem getting in. We're in some BIG rooms this year but expect them all to be full of happy fans as we don't want anyone to be left out in the cold. Some advice from a pro: Come out early and you'll get more from the experience, show up late for the party and risk being left out.
HPX iPhone App - Download it today from the App Store for free and if you've already downloaded it there is an update to fix a few small bug issues. Make full use of it and share your HPX festival pics directly, tweet to us and send the link to your pals so they can join the fun with you.
HPX Poster Art Show - Check out the work these amazing local artists have done to make HPX 2011 even better. All posters are available for sale during the festival and are currently on display at the Economy Shoe Shop for those who wish to get a closer look.
