Ohbijou left the big city and the distractions of every day life and ventured out to a wooden cabin in the peninsula of Dyer’s Bay to write their highly anticipated 3rd LP Metal Meets. The new album, featuring 11 original songs, is out NOW on CD and Vinyl with Last Gang Records. Following an exciting performance at POP Montreal last week the band will launch their national tour with dates across the country including a special hometown Toronto show at Trinity St. Paul’s United Church this Friday September 30th (dates listed below). Check out their new website at www.ohbijou.com and their bio video here for an intimate look behind the creative process of Metal Meets. The first single Niagara hit number 1 on CBC Radio 3 and the groundbreaking experimental video directed by Jared Raab (The Arkells, Born Ruffians) will be released this week.
Metal Meets sees the band (James Bunton, Ryan Carley, Anissa Hart, Heather Kirby, Jenny Mecija and Casey Mecija) have new lyrical contributors, a first for Ohbijou with Ryan and Jenny adding their personal signature to a couple of songs. With new instrumental timbres and vocal textures as heard on the second single Anser that also features Ryan on vocals and Iron and Ore with Jenny on lead vocals. Recorded at Montreal’s Breakglass Studios last winter by acclaimed producer Jace Lasek (Besnard Lakes), listeners will hear new layers to the bands sound as they experimented with various delays, distortions and reverbs while capturing a more pensive and emotional recording.

Lead Singer Casey Mecija had this to say about the new album and taking Metal Meets on the road, “We are so excited to be releasing Metal Meets! This album has been a labour of love and to share it live is what we are anticipating the most. We've worked so hard to translate the album into a live show that will surprise audiences.“

Be sure to pick up Metal Meets today and check out Ohbijou on tour this fall.
