NEWS: ZENITH MYTH RELEASES DEBUT RECORD

SELF-TITLED ALBUM SET TO DROP ON SEPTEMBER 6
Toronto, ON – July 29, 2011 – Armed with a personal collection of prog-rock tracks, L.A. based Canadian artist Zenith Myth (aka Mike Edwards) is set to release his self-titled debut album – out September 6th on Vibra Cobra Records. With musical influences that span Led Zeppelin, My Bloody Valentine and Massive Attack, the album is a break-up record of sorts, touching on themes from his own cathartic life experiences. Zenith Myth is the realization of that perspective.

Recorded and produced by Blinker the Star’s Jordon Zadorozny at his French Kiss Studios in Pembroke, ON, the album focuses on more than just one style of rock music. Effortlessly flowing through songs influenced by modern and classic rock, into melancholic ambient dub-like moments, the album draws on each style creating a musical hybrid. Track to track Zenith Myth experiments in structure and varies in tempo and tone while still maintaining a unity with the progressive rock style that runs throughout the entire record.

Soliciting the help of some of his friends, the album features guest performances by an impressive roster of musicians. Paul D’Amour (Tool), Melissa Auf der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins), Mike Bloom (Julian Casablancas), Sam Goldberg (Broken Social Scene), and Meshell Ndegeocello each lent their talents to the record.

Lyrically the album takes an emotional turn with themes of heartache and love lost. Referring to it as “romantic alienation” Edwards describes the album as having a lyrical agenda that comes from a more accepting and hopeful place. Backed by hauntingly beautiful instrumentation full of high gain, pulverizing lows, and inventive use of feedback and distortion, Zenith Myth is the ultimate rock soundtrack cure for the heartbroken.
